Lucy Charles-Barclay makes MAJOR decision about IRONMAN World Championship title defence

T100 Triathlon World Tour

During the launch of the PTO’s T100 Triathlon World Tour in London yesterday, reigning IRONMAN World Champion Lucy Charles-Barclay made a commitment to the 100km distance in 2024.

Despite winning the coveted IRONMAN World Championship title at the fifth time of asking last October in Kona, the 30-year-old revealed she would not seek to defend her title in Nice.

Instead, the London born former swimmer will turn her full attention to conquering what looks set to be one of the most exciting triathlon series of all time.

“I am going to put everything in the T100 series”

Having previously won the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship title and finished on the podium at multiple PTO Tour events, Charles-Barclay will be one of the favourites for this year’s T100 Triathlon World Tour.

However, trying to be the best in the world does come at a cost, with the Londoner confirming that she won’t be racing in Nice, with her focus set firmly on the 100km distance during the upcoming season.

“I am going to put everything in the T100 series. You won’t see me racing in Nice.”

Charles-Barclay added that “defending my title would be in Kona”, meaning that we might not see the PTO World #4 race over the full distance again until at least 2025.
